About
My name is Jennifer Strom, and I am an Assistive Technology Specialist with over 10 years experience working in the field of special education. In my years as an educator, I have served students with a wide range of technology needs, including curriculum access and accommodation, reading, writing, and math supports, and augmentative alternative communication needs. I’ve conducted assessments for students in the public, non-public, and private school settings, and have extensive experience collaborating with IEP teams, including students and families, to train and coordinate implementation plans for recommended AT. I am proficient in a wide range of devices and programs, and stay current in the field to maintain updated knowledge regarding new tools and updates so no potential AT is overlooked in meeting the unique needs of each student. I pride myself on providing thorough, comprehensive, and legally defensible AT/AAC assessments, and my ability to work closely with IEP teams to ensure thorough and timely assessments to ensure districts remain in compliance.
I have experience conducting AT assessments for individuals with a wide array of needs and ability levels in both the public and private school settings. I also collaborate closely with the school staff and family throughout the process, ensuring a thorough assessment of needs to inform appropriate AT considerations. Following recommendations of supports, I will help facilitate AT training and implementation for successful classroom and home integration, leading to ongoing success.
